The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles hosted its 74th Annual Torch of Justice Legal Event on Thursday night, honoring Scott Edelman of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Edelman, a prominent figure in the Jewish community, has served as president of Wilshire Boulevard Temple, the American Jewish Committee Los Angeles, and Bet Tzedek Legal Services.
The event, held at The Beverly Hilton, drew over 500 attendees who came together to celebrate Edelman's remarkable career as he prepares to retire after 40 years of legal practice. The evening raised more than $950,000 in support of the Jewish Federation's mission.
Highlights of the event included speeches by Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-New York) and Columbia University student and activist Eden Yadegar. They joined JFEDLA President & CEO Rabbi Noah Farkas for a discussion on the alarming rise of antisemitism on college campuses and globally.
