Harmeet K. Dhillon, managing partner of San Francisco based Dhillon Law Group Inc. and a prominent supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, was nominated Monday to a key position in the U.S. Department of Justice, as assistant attorney general for civil rights.
"Throughout her career, Harmeet has stood up consistently to protect our cherished Civil Liberties, including taking on Big Tech for censoring our Free Speech, representing Christians who were prevented from praying together during COVID, and suing corporations who use woke policies to discriminate against their workers," Trump said in a statement on his social media site, Truth Social.
Dhillon is a former vice chair of the California Republican Party who spent the weeks up to and after the Nov. 5 election working for Trump's campaign on election matters in Arizona, she said in an interview last month.
Her law partner, David A. Warrington, was picked by Trump last week to be his White House counsel.
"I'm extremely honored by President Trump's nomination to assist with our nation's civil rights agenda," she wrote in a comment on X on Monday. "It has been my dream to be able to serve our great country, and I am so excited to be part of an incredible team of lawyers led by [attorney general-designate] Pam Bondi."
Dhillon's nomination must be approved by the U.S. Senate.
Her firm's clients include Tucker Carlson, Turning Point USA, the Republican National Committee, and state Republican parties across the country.
