From Intake to Trial: Understanding the Full Context
Jeanne Behling, Esq. is a full-time mediator who has successfully resolved hundreds of disputes. Before transitioning to mediation in 2016, she tried over 60 cases as a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County. She then litigated civil cases for an additional 16 years representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Her experience spans the full life cycle of a case--from intake through discovery, depositions, motion practice, expert coordination, and trial preparation--giving her a comprehensive understanding of the strategic and practical pressures that shape litigation.
Experience on Both Sides of the Caption
Ms. Behling's practice has included personal injury, product liability, sexual abuse and harassment, employment, subrogation, business disputes, and matters involving peace officers and government claims. Having worked on both sides of the caption, she appreciates not only legal exposure and evidentiary risks, but also the financial, reputational, and human considerations that influence settlement decisions.
The Power of Human Connection in Resolution
Her commitment to mediation deepened during over five years spent in Singapore, where she studied mediation strategy and gained a global perspective on dispute resolution. That experience reinforced her belief that meaningful human connection--grounded in candor, preparation, and respect--is central to achieving durable outcomes. Attorneys frequently note her human approachability; as one recently wrote, "Ms. Behling was absolutely wonderful to work with. She was thorough and patient throughout the entire process, and my client felt the same way. I sincerely loved her demeanor, honesty, and presentation, especially in a difficult setting."
Persistent, Purposeful Follow- Through
If a case does not resolve on mediation day, Ms. Behling actively continues discussions toward settlement, providing reasonable follow-up at no additional charge. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University Fowler School of Law and Western State College of Law.
