Besides being an experienced and skillful mediator, Robert M. Cohen is a people person who loves the mediation process. Known for his practical approach, creativity, and ability to foster trust, he possesses excellent inter-personal skills and a keen intuition for "reading the room." While he consistently achieves excellent settlement rates, he believes sincerely that the mediation experience (i.e., "the ride") is every bit as important as the mediation result (the ultimate destination).

Mr. Cohen brings more than four decades of litigation experience to his mediation practice and has handled a broad spectrum of civil matters: personal injury, HOA, landlord-tenant, habitability, commercial leasing, business and partnership disputes, and commercial collections. Throughout his career, he has been involved in over 2,000 personal injury claims and more than 1,200 litigated matters. He has successfully tried to judgment, verdict or arbitration award scores of lawsuits.

Since the 1990s, Mr. Cohen has participated in over 1,100 mediations, either as a neutral or as a mediation advocate. He is particularly effective in resolving emotionally charged/personality-driven disputes and is always looking to uncover creative pathways to settlement. He is committed to working closely with counsel and parties to reach fair, practical and positive outcomes.

Mr. Cohen is on the ARC panel of mediators and also serves as Co-Chair of the Beverly Hills Bar Association ADR/Mediation Section which hosts monthly seminars and interviews with many of the top thought leaders in the mediation world.
