Hon. Michael Marcus (Ret.), one of California's most experienced and respected neutrals, has been a mediator for over 22 years. He has mediated more than 3,500 matters involving all aspects of employment, legal malpractice/professional responsibility, commercial/business, personal injury, real property and medical malpractice and is known for his preparation, legal knowledge, fairness and efficiency.

The Los Angeles Daily Journal has recognized Judge Marcus on many occasions as one of California's Top 50 neutrals. He has also been honored as an Alternative Dispute Resolution Super Lawyer and as a National Law Journal ADR champion. He is a former Governor of the State Bar of California, a former Trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, is a current member of LACBA's Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee, its Labor and Employment Section's Executive Committee and a frequent speaker and author on legal ethics, mediation strategy and mediation ethics for LACBA, the Association of Southern California Defense Council, CAALA, the CEB and numerous Los Angeles law firms.

Judge Marcus is the author of Trial Preparation for Prosecutors, 1st, 2nd and 3rd edit., LexisNexis, and is currently writing Courtroom Civility: The Dos and Don'ts of Civil and Criminal Litigation. He has taught evidence at USC School of Law and mediation ethics at Pepperdine's Strauss Institute.

Before becoming a mediator, Judge Marcus was the Supervising Judge of the California State Bar Court. Previously, he was in private practice for ten years, where he concentrated on commercial litigation and employment matters. Judge Marcus is a former Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, during which he tried 150 felony jury trials, headed the Beverly Hills Area Office, the Consumer Section and was a member of the Organized Crime Section. Judge Marcus received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.
