Veteran California civil litigator Gary Stern is widely regarded as a "lawyer's lawyer," known for his unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and professional ethics. After 44 years of litigating civil cases throughout California - and with a growing focus on alternative dispute resolution over the past five years, Mr. Stern has transitioned to serving exclusively as a neutral.

Mr. Stern's practice as a consumer attorney emphasized general civil, tort and employment cases. He resolved hundreds of cases resulting in six and seven figure recoveries, through mediation, arbitration and trial.

In December 2024, Mr. Stern became exclusively available to serve as a mediator and arbitrator in all areas of civil litigation. In June 2025, Mr. Stern was honored to be selected as a member of the prestigious panel of ADR Professionals at ARC (Alternative Resolution Centers).

Mr. Stern is widely published in the areas of elder abuse and nursing home reform, disability discrimination, medical malpractice, and alternative dispute resolution. In addition, he is a well-respected speaker for both legal and lay audiences.

Since 2019, he has been an active and successful settlement officer and mediator with the Los Angeles Superior Court, a Judge Pro Tem with that Court and a member of various ADR panels for both the local federal and state courts.
