From Prisoners to Patents: GC Acts as Enforcer

Bernard "Barney" Cassidy’s pro bono work defending the rights of prisoners at Pelican Bay prepared him for the equally emotionally charged task of enforcing patents. Cassidy took over in November as general counsel for Silicon Valley’s Tessera Technologies Inc.

Bernard "Barney" Cassidy is the new general counsel for Tessera Technologies Inc., a San Jose-based company that produces and licenses technology for the electronics industry. Tessera's semiconductor chip packaging technology is used in cell phones and computers around the world.
