James A. Merklinger, general counsel for the Association of Corporate Counsel, is helping America's largest organization for in-house attorneys evaluate its strategy for serving members.
At the beginning of August, Merklinger was promoted from deputy general counsel, replacing Susan Hackett, who was known for her fierce advocacy of the ACC Value Challenge, a program that began in 2009 to encourage conversations with law firms about alternative fee arrangements.
