ORANGE -- A career family law specialist, Judge Yolanda V. Torres considers herself a product of the system that she now presides over in Orange County Superior Court, having grown up the daughter of a single mother in Westminster.

"She often felt that she didn't have a voice in the legal proceedings back then," Torres said of her mother's experiences in divorce court in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
