LOS ANGELES - Superior Court Judge Jerry B. Marshak embraced the growing role of alternatives to traditional sentencing, and firmly believes in the power of diversion programs, which he calls "an incredible statutory scheme."

"These processes have been strongly developed with tangible criteria and tangible legislative goals that give us, as bench officers, the blueprint of the intent of the Legislature and how to effectuate it," he said.
