Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Jane Gaskell was born and raised in England. For a time, she lived in London's Whitechapel district, where Jack the Ripper once murderously stalked the cobblestone alleys. One of the serial killer's victims may have been killed in 1888 in Gaskell's back yard, according to tour guides who would pause out front.
