POMONA - When Superior Court Judge Tracey M. Blount took the bench in January 2025, she did not pretend the transition to a misdemeanor calendar would be easy.

For more than two decades, she worked in dependency law at the Los Angeles County Counsel's Office, focusing on child safety and family reunification, high-stakes decisions made without juries. Criminal Court, by contrast, was faster paced, procedurally different, and outside her comfort zone.
