STOCKTON - Outside of the window in San Joaquin County Presiding Judge Lesley D. Holland's chambers, construction workers are building a new courthouse.
Holland is administering the court as the project unfolds, and amidst it all, he's building on his own legal knowledge. Three weeks into the year, he's learning to adjudicate probate law, having just taken on the department.
