LOS ANGELES - During an otherwise typical proceeding last fall, newly-appointed Superior Court Judge Rupa Goswami gaveled an abrupt recess.
The former federal prosecutor wasn't stumped by some particular of California evidence; a more basic need required the break: Goswami had morning sickness.
