VAN NUYS - Gymnastics paid for Rich Kirschner's college education. Football taught him about life.
Kirschner, who played both offense and defense in high school, learned teamwork, tenacity and the ability to withstand pain on the gridiron, lessons that have helped him tackle some of the most pressing fiscal issues in Los Angeles County Superior Court history.
