SONORA - Tuolumne County Superior Court Judge James A. Boscoe grew up the son of a barber in Stockton. His father, an Italian immigrant who closed shop at 72 years old, guided his son toward a career in either medicine or the law from an early age.

With two doctor uncles and another working as an attorney, a young Boscoe saw ample examples of what his future could hold.
