LONG BEACH - Twenty years spent defending accused murderers and other criminals didn't prepare Chet Taylor for his first year as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge handling unlawful detainers.
The sum total of his preparation was watching another bench officer handle a couple of days' worth of small claims, civil harassment and unlawful detainer cases.
