After graduating law school in 1976, Garry Ichikawa was offered a good job working in the criminal appeals division of the California attorney general's office. He turned it down.
"I realized if I took the job I would never go home again," said Ichikawa, now a judge in Solano County. "I was married at the time, and I realized I wanted to raise my family back in my hometown."
