Rallying for Rehabilitation

Commissioner Collette Serio got "burned" this summer. A lenient judge who believes in rehabilitation, she took a harsh line with a defendant who then killed his girlfriend and himself. The incident has affirmed her belief in compassion.

Commissioner Collette Serio got "burned" earlier this summer. Normally a lenient judge who believes in compassion and rehabilitation, she took an unusually harsh line with one of her defendants.

The defendant, Jian Ming Liang, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child abandonment after dropping off his 8-year-old daughter at her school with all her clothes.
