SACRAMENTO - As a boy, Justice Louis Mauro took to heart his dad's advice, like "play to your strengths" and "anticipate the play."

For Mauro's father, a professional baseball player who played with the likes of Jackie Robinson, that meant anticipating where the baseball would go and getting there first, and using his speed to score runs instead of just slugging the ball.
