COMPTON - Superior Court Judge Allen J. Webster Jr. didn't have the luxury of a specialized practice when he graduated law school in the 1970s.
At that time, there were limited opportunities for black attorneys at law firms and agencies, he said. So the Compton-raised lawyer launched his own shop and practiced a little bit of everything - family, probate, criminal law - to get by.
