SAN DIEGO - When Superior Court Judge Christine Goldsmithwas growing up, she wanted to be an interpreter.
"It just seemed exotic," said the family law judge, seated in her chambers in downtown San Diego. "My mother traveled after World War II to Japan with the Red Cross, and she also traveled to Germany as the war was ending."
