  SAN FRANCISCO - Just over 18 months into his tenure on the federal bench, U.S. District
  Judge James J. Donato is looking beyond standard, traditional case management practices
  and considering innovative methods for handling civil trials. 

  The San Francisco judge is currently in the process of preparing revised sets of standing
  orders that will govern proceedings in his courtroom.
