SACRAMENTO - Steven M. Gevercer has had some tough jobs. Before even dreaming of becoming a judge, he did manual labor with his father, and waited tables and tended bars. He worked in a disco bar and restaurant that was "very obnoxious," filled with cigarette smoke and drunks, he said.
But it prepared him, in a way, for handling a packed courtroom.
