STOCKTON - San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Robin C. Appel was an anthropology major at UC Berkeley when she realized the law was an attractive alternative.
Her mezzo-America studies required a field trip to Guatemala. That wasn't an option, Appel said with a rueful laugh.
