Judge Steven A. Mapes has a brief message for parents who aren't getting their acts together: "You're going to lose your kids. Strangers are going to raise your kids."

The San Bernardino County juvenile dependency judge said these direct warnings are usually aimed at parents who aren't committed to kicking a drug habit or continuously find themselves entering abusive relationships.
