Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP added former federal prosecutor Kimberly D. Jaimez as a partner, expanding its litigation practice in Los Angeles.

Jaimez, who was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Central District's criminal division, will specialize in corporate investigations, government enforcement, general litigation and white collar defense.

"What stood out about Pillsbury was that in addition to being a full service, bi-coastal firm with chambers ranked practices, it is also known for its collegiality and collaboration," Jaimez said. "It just seemed like a really good fit and it's also a good opportunity to grow my practice."

"I am also very excited about getting involved in corporate investigations, particularly proactive internal investigations that are happening and addressing #metoo and bias issues," Jaimez added. Jaimez looks forward to leveraging her seven years with the U.S. attorney's office to represent clients in health care fraud matters. She was also heavily

Jaimez investigated and prosecuted international money laundering schemes, health care fraud, embezzlement, wire and mail fraud, drug conspiracies, cyber extortion and blackmail matters.

One of her most notable cases was a multiyear investigation and indictment of the founder of 1-800-Get-Thin for a $250 million fraudulent billing scheme involving fake sleep studies and unnecessary lap band surgeries.

Tashayla Billington joined CDF Labor Law LLP as associate in Sacramento.

Struve said Friday he was drawn to Buchalter because of the firm's diversity as well as its culture of respect and transparency.

He was also attracted to the firm's focus on growth.

An experienced litigator, Struve specializes in complex healthcare disputes, unfair competition actions and regulatory compliance matters.

Before joining Buchalter, he practiced at Hooper Lundy & Bookman for three years but spent the bulk of his career at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP. He was at Manatt for twenty years, most recently as an equity partner and co-chair of the healthcare litigation group.

Although a trial lawyer by trade, Struve said what he enjoys most in his practice is the ability to counsel clients on how to avoid litigation when possible.

"I have probably talked my clients out of countless millions of dollars in fees for myself, but they're better for it, and I feel better about it," he explained.

Buchalter announced Struve's addition to its Orange County office on Aug. 31.
