Former Councilman Avoids Trial

The U.S. attorney's office in San Diego has decided not to proceed with a new trial for former City Councilman Michael Zucchet.

SAN DIEGO - The U.S. attorney's office in San Diego has decided not to proceed with a new trial for former City Councilman Michael Zucchet.

It's been a long haul for Zucchet, who was indicted in 2004, along with others, on charges of wire fraud and extortion in connection to an honest services case that was dubbed "Strippergate."
