Mayor Dick Riordan Backs the LAPD's Culture of Brutality

By Stephen Yagman. "[W]e cannot tolerate nonviolent disobedience," the mayor of the premier world democracy's second largest city, Richard J. Riordan, recently proclaimed. There are only two ways to take his statement of intolerance: only violent demonstrators will be tolerated, which surely is not what Riordan meant, or no demonstrators at all will be tolerated, which apparently is what he did mean.
