Affirmative Action Is Relic of Ethnic-Discrimination History

In his column, "Reaching High" (Forum, Sept. 21), professor Erwin Chemerinsky laments the contradictions and confusion prevailing in the law that governs the use of affirmative action in university admissions. He urges the U.S. Supreme Court to reaffirm Justice Lewis F. Powell's concurring opinion in Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, 428 U.S. 265 (1978) (Powell, J., concurring).
