Officer Limits
By Erwin Chemerinsky The Rampart police corruption scandal is the worst in Los Angeles history. Innocent people were imprisoned, their lives ruined, because police officers planted evidence and lied in court. Already, 40 individuals have been released from custody, with another 60 about to be set free. The district attorney has estimated that at least 3,000 cases will need to be reviewed. The cost to the taxpayers will be enormous.
