Union gets 1st virus injunction against meat processing plant

The tentative ruling issued Jan. 29 by Merced County Superior Court Judge Brian L. McCabe said new variants of the COVID-19 virus would likely "greatly increase the risk of infection" at the meat processing plant.

The United Farm Workers of America secured the nation's first preliminary injunction requiring a meat processing plant to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols. The defendant, Foster Poultry Farms, denied it violated the rules and said it would prove its case on appeal.
