Judge shoots down Medicaid amendment altering senior dental care

The issue in contention is a decision by the state of California to change some of Medi-Cal's dental policies, including but not limited to "cutting reimbursement rates for periodontal care and instituting a new pre-authorization and X-ray process for institutionalized patients who required scaling and root planing," according to Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald's order.

Attorneys representing dental hygienists pro bono protected senior citizens' ability to obtain periodontal care in a victory against Alex Azar, former secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
