Appeal panel considers if consumer law apply to bail contracts?
The 1st District Court of Appeal heard arguments in an appeal by Bad Boys Bail Bonds challenging an Alameda County judge’s preliminary injunction to stop the company from attempting to collect bail debt owed by co-signers. The class of plaintiffs argued that the company did not notify co-signers of their rights under the state’s consumer law.




An appeal panel in San Francisco gave no sign on Tuesday whether they believe California's consumer protection laws apply to credit bail agreements in a hearing on a class action that has the potential to allow thousands of debtors to challenge their bail contracts.
