Trellis Law founders to start with mini-openings
Superior Court Judge Michael P. Linfield was reluctant to allow more than 15 minutes each for opening statements, saying they were simply to be a guideline for the jurors to know what they are going to hear. “There’s no evidence,” said the judge. “You’re not going to address it all. No one ever does.”




A business dispute between two founders of Trellis Law, a state trial court legal database, is set for trial Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court after the judge said he was restricting opening statements to 15 minutes each.
Jury selection for the five-day trial is to begin in the morning before opening statements are heard in the afternoon.
