Prominent San Diego lawyer faces disbarment for making false 911 calls

Kelly Duford Williams became enraged when the man she was dating went on a vacation in April 2021 to southern Utah with a couple and their child but left her behind. She sent him a series of threatening texts including one that said she would “come for you like don’t even know.”

The State Bar Court judge has recommended disbarment for a prominent San Diego lawyer who was accused of, among other things, making false 911 calls about the welfare of a child because she was upset that the man she dated went on a trip to Utah without her.

Kelly Duford Williams, who was licensed to practice in California in 2014, has been placed on involuntary inactive status pending the Supreme Court’s determination on disbarment. She ...
