Senate moves forward nomination to federal court in San Diego

The 51-45 vote moves Superior Court Judge James E. Simmons Jr., a former gang prosecutor, one step away from confirmation.

The U.S. Senate voted Wednesday to cut off debate on San Diego County Superior Court Judge James E. Simmons Jr.’s nomination to a vacancy on the Southern District of California bench.
