Washington state case might revive a California dispute over detainee pay
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is trying to decide if detainees should be paid minimum wage.

Questions a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel posed to the Washington Supreme Court may determine whether inmates at an immigration facility operated by Geo Group Inc. should be paid under that state’s minimum wage laws.
The decision could also revive a California class action that’s been on hold, filed by current and former detainees at another company detention center in San Bernardino County.
