LA County accused of illegally taking mineral, property rights
Bridgeland Resources LLC claims that with a new ordinance, the county seeks to “usurp” the authority of the California Geologic Energy Management Division, which regulates oil and gas extraction, and subvert state policy for the development of oil and gas resources.




An oil and gas developer sued Los Angeles County alleging that a new ordinance will extinguish their mineral and property rights in the area which are worth $230 million if the law is not rescinded. The plaintiff also alleges violation of the constitutional takings clauses.
