Legislative fix of fire insurance might have run out of time

For weeks, lawmakers and insurers have been in talks over the possibility of introducing a bill that would stem a recent exodus of insurers from the state.

The clock quietly ran out on a last-minute legislative deal to overhaul the fire insurance market in California. But a spokesman for Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara said legislation is just “one of many options that we have been pursuing.”
