The benefits of improvisational negotiation I learned from Jeff Krivis
Jeff Krivis, known for his improvisational negotiation techniques, was a master at resolving tough cases. He believed successful mediation gave parties a clear choice between litigation and reconciliation. Viewing each case as a drama, Krivis skillfully guided parties as a director would actors, using improvisation to break through impasses.

Jeff Krivis passed away last week far too young. I first met Jeff when he mediated a case for me in 2007. Some years went by, and I next encountered Jeff in 2014 when I attended Strauss Institute's Mediating the Litigated Case program, where Jeff taught over the course of a week. By that time, he had been a full-time mediator for over 25 years. Jeff was a pioneer in the field, wrote and spoke on the topic frequently and founded the International Academy of Mediators.
