Judge Miller also sat for over a year as a Justice Pro Tem on the Court of Appeal.
In 2018, Judge Miller retired from the bench and joined ADR Services, Inc., where she is a mediator and arbitrator.
At ADR Services, Inc., Judge Miller handles a broad range of civil litigation, including personal injury, employment, professional malpractice, real estate, entertainment, and business litigation.
A recent conversation with Judge Miller:
What's your approach? "I see myself as a partner to each side, trying to make sure each has the best opportunity to present their case in a compelling way."
What are your core strengths? "First, I work incredibly hard - I spend a ridiculous amount of time preparing. I continue to follow up pretty much forever if we don't reach a resolution at the mediation.
Second, with more than 45 years of legal experience, I understand issues quickly and can help parties craft persuasive arguments convincing to their opponents.
Third, I genuinely like people, listen carefully and empathize with them.
Finally, during hundreds of jury trials, I focused intently on jurors - trying to understand what influenced them. It gave me unusually good insight into what jurors respond to - and human behavior in general. And isn't that what dispute resolution is really about?"
"I believe deeply in the rule of law - it results from centuries of smart, fair people, working out, bit by bit, what justice looks like."
