LOS ANGELES - Joan B. Kessler of JAMS was honored April 23 at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, receiving the Alumni Association Board of Governors Honor during the school's Grand Reunion.
The award recognizes alumni who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the law school, the legal profession and public service, and whose careers reflect leadership and integrity.
"Dr. Kessler has long been dedicated to advancing the legal profession and supporting Loyola Law School," said Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president. "This honor reflects the genuine commitment to service that she has demonstrated throughout her career."
Kessler, a JAMS neutral, has nearly 20 years of experience in alternative dispute resolution and more than 30 years in the legal field. She serves as a mediator and arbitrator in matters including employment, business and commercial disputes, real property, insurance, trusts and estates, and entertainment.
She holds a Ph.D. in communications, with a background in empirical research and statistical analysis that informs her work as a mediator and arbitrator. Her prior experience as a jury researcher and consultant continues to shape her focus on communication and decision-making in complex disputes.
She has also supported graduate students through the Joan B. Kessler Award at the University of Michigan.
The Grand Reunion brings together alumni, faculty and students in support of Loyola Law School's mission.
