BELLFLOWER -- Superior Court Judge Warren M. Kato, who as a prosecutor obtained a 1,210-year prison sentence for a serial bank robber, recently interviewed convicts serving life terms to get their perspectives on what makes a good judge.

As part of a judicial conference at San Quentin, Kato said he "got to spend some time talking to them and getting their insights on what they think would help."
