Chen creates another position in Northern District for Biden to fill
“I remain committed to the judiciary’s role in securing equal justice under the law and will continue to render substantial judicial service as a senior judge,” U.S. District Judge Edward Chen wrote in a letter to President Joe Biden.
U.S. District Judge Edward M. Chen of San Francisco, the former American Civil Liberties Union staff attorney known for his liberal judicial opinions and handling of high-profile cases, is taking senior status in May.
The Northern District of California announced Chen's decision on Friday.
