9th Circuit Judge William Fletcher will take senior status

The decisions by Fletcher and other judges won’t change the makeup of the court, which is nearly evenly split between appointees of Democratic and Republican presidents.

9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge William A. Fletcher is the latest appointee of President Bill Clinton to take senior status, bringing the total number of vacancies on the court to four -- including three in California.

Fletcher sent a letter Monday to President Joe Biden saying he would work part-time status once his successor is appointed.
